My research can be broadly divided into two areas: (1) Modern and contemporary Japanese language, literature, and culture, and
(2) 19th-20th century American and English literature.
Studies in global modernism and transnational exchanges bring these two fields together.
I have published articles on Japanese literature and American literature in a number of journals and collections, and am working on a monograph entitled Insect Selves: Posthumanism in Japanese Literature and Culture.
