Abstract

With only one translation of Ningen shikkaku (translated by Donald Keene in 1958 as No Longer Human) available, the review focuses on the translator's intention and approaches to differentiate his translation from No Longer Human.

Ji Shouse is a PhD candidate in the Department of Asian Languages and Civilizations at University of Colorado Boulder. Shouse’s focus of research is on Japanese and Korean Modernist/Experimental Literature and Visuality in the interwar period.
